A world without Paste…

14 May

…equals a loss of this country’s best music journalism. And right now, it’s up to us to stop it from happening.

My friend and former Paste intern: “I spent six euphoric months interning at Paste Magazine – an indie music/film lover’s cultural Bible. If you love the magazine as much as I do, please chip in… Exclusive music to save a wonderful magazine? It’s a win-win situation.”

This is a chance to save a GREAT magazine (of which artists say things like,

“Paste may be the last great American music magazine left” [Patterson Hood of the Drive-by Truckers]

and other things like

“Paste Magazine really embodies all that’s left of true independent thought and expression in music journalism in the states right now” [Josh Rouse])

AND get exclusive new and unreleased music from bands like The Decemberists, Neko Case, She & Him, Of Montreal, Over the Rhine, and the Avett Brothers.

How can you help? And what’s this free music thing?

Read a letter from the editors and publishers of Paste, which the Wall Street Journal called “the best among American music titles,” here!

Hesitating? FAQs for you!

A personal reason to keep Paste alive? I recently submitted a 4,000-word essay that took me five months to complete and is written specifically for the Paste audience. So be a friend and help them help me help you (cuz you wanna read it. your curiosity is piquing like crazy, I know).

Or, other ways to help too! Subscribing is obviously a big one and I’d highly recommend it. [the 20 free songs per month makes it worth it!] Or for subscribers, try the Paste Digital VIP – it’s only 3.95 a month for a bunch of rad doodads.

Thank you to anyone who helps Paste keep kickin’ out articles, album reviews and essays (and all those samplers and album streams we love)!

Much love,

Tim

PS Send this plea to your rich relatives. If you have any.

SAVE PASTE MAGAZINE! by Christina Hansen
published May 13 at 12:44pm

As many of you may know, I spent six euphoric months interning at Paste Magazine – an indie music/film lover’s cultural Bible. Imagine my dismay today to read that the magazine (like so many others) is in deep financial trouble, and is launching a last ditch effort to raise the money needed to publish the next issue.

If you love the magazine as much as I do, please chip in and buy a CD to support the Save Paste campaign that begins today. Exclusive music to save a wonderful magazine? It’s a win-win situation.

If you aren’t familiar with the magazine, check out the website.
